Camping facilities are fairly well developed in Tanzania and designated campsites in wildlife reserves continue to cater for the growing number of back packers visiting the country. The following itineraries have been developed by Flexible Tours and Car Hire to provide the traveler with tours that cover the main areas of interest including the most popular parks. Longer safaris and special group safaris can be customized for individual groups on request: -

FTCTB 212 Wildlife Happyland Tour (6 Days)

Day 1 Ngorongoro
Early morning departure from Nairobi for Tanzania, crossing the border at Namanga where our Tanzanian guides will meet you. Drive on to Arusha for lunch and continue to the Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and an overnight stay at your campsite.

Day 2 Ngorongoro
Breakfast at the lodge and drive down to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a full day's game viewing. The Crater (covering at total area of 100 square miles) is host to Rhino, Lion, Elephant, Zebra and Wildebeest. Enjoy a picnic lunch before ascending the crater wall back to the lodge. After dinner and an overnight stay is at your campsite.

Day 3 Serengeti
Breakfast and continue to the vast Serengeti National Park. Stop at Olduvai Gorge site of the famous archeological findings of early man by the Leakey family. Lunch is at the archeological site and afternoon game viewing where the large herds of Wild beast, Zebra, and Gazelle roam the plains. Dinner and overnight at your campsite.

Day 4 Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge or campsite in the mid afternoon. It is possible to view all the big five. Animals here are seen in very large herds, especially wildebeest, zebra gazelle and other antelopes. The park is one of the largest in the world; it's animal concentration and abundance is unequalled. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra occurs in this park in May/June. In the parks central plains there are carnivores like Lion, Leopard, hyenas and cheetah. The evening meal and an overnight are at your campsite.

Day 5 Serengeti - Tarangire
After breakfast, depart Serengeti for Tarangire National Park, lunch en-route The Park has an atmosphere of remoteness and has fewer visitors than all the other parks in Tanzania's entire northern circuit. Blue monkeys, hornbills, pelicans, herons can be seen as well as elephants in large herds, cheetah, jackal, fish eagle, marabou stork, and hippos. Dinner and an overnight are at your campsite.

Day 6 Tarangire/Nairobi
After breakfast proceed on a game drive then depart for Arusha for lunch and your onward transfer to Nairobi via the Namanga border town for immigration formalities, arriving in Nairobi in the late evening.

FTCTB 216 Back Backers' Paradise (5 Days)

Day 1 Nairobi - Lake Manyara
Arrive at the Namanga border town at 10.00 hrs. After immigration formalities, drive to Arusha for lunch. The afternoon is spent game viewing at Lake Manyara National Park which is famous for its tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes. The park contains five distinct vegetation zones and is of scenic beauty. Dinner and overnight is at your campsite.

Day 2 Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, taking picnic lunch with you, descend 2000 ft (670m) into the crater floor in four drive land rovers with pop-up roofs. Full day crater tour with break for lunch at Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. The main crater has a diameter of 165 km and contains a constant animal population of varied species, including Black manned lions, Rhinos, Buffaloes, Elephants and other Grazing animals. An early evening ascent to campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Ngorongoro - Serengeti
07:30 hrs: Leave Ngorongoro after breakfast for Olduvai Gorge. Lunch is taken at the Olduvai Gorge Museum. After lunch, visit various sites of the Gorge to see where the remains of prehistoric man were discovered by the famous archeologist Dr. L.S.B. Leaky and an old Masai home on the way. Proceed to Serengeti plains past Seronera and on to Lobo, with afternoon game viewing. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.

Day 4 Serengeti
Leave Lobo for Ndutu with game viewing in Serengeti and around Ndutu woodlands to locate leopards and numerous plains games as well as Cheetah and other species common here. Proceed for an overnight stay at your campsite.

Day 5 Serengeti - Nairobi
After breakfast, with brief game viewing on your way out of Serengeti drive to Arusha via Mto wa Mbu village for shopping of makonde carving and - other souvenirs. Lunch at an Arusha hotel. Drive to Nairobi via Namanga border town, arriving early evening.

Day 4: Serengeti - Arusha
After breakfast, taking picnic lunch drive around the Serengeti Park for a game drive before departing slowly for Arusha. (Optional stopover at the Snake Park enroute).

FTCTB 220 - Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire
Duration: 4 days/3 nights

Day 1: Arusha - Karatu
Depart 1400hrs Karatu dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 2: Karatu - Ngorongoro
After breakfast, taking picnic lunch box drive to Ngorongoro for a Crater Tour late afternoon drive to the Crater rim, dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 3: Ngorongoro - Lake Manyara
After breakfast, taking picnic lunch boxes drive to Lake Manyara Park for a game drive dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 4: Tarangire - Arusha
After breakfast, drive into Tarangire National Park for a game drive then lunch before driving back to Arusha. (Optional stopover at the Snake Park enroute).

FTCTB 222 - Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater - Olduvai Gorge
Duration: 4 days/3 nights

Day1: Arusha - Karatu
Depart 1400hrs for Karatu, dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 2: Karatu - Ngorongoro
After breakfast, with picnic lunch drive to Ngorongoro Crater Tour late afternoon drive to the Crater Rim, dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 3: Ngorongoro
After breakfast, with picnic lunch drive to Olduvai Gorge the "Cradle of Mankind" visit museum etc. thereafter drive for short game drive within the Conservation Area.
Later in the afternoon drive to Manyara for dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 4: Lake Manyara - Arusha
After breakfast, drive into Lake Manyara Park for a game drive, lunch before driving back to Arusha. (Optional stopover at Snake Park enroute).
